The New Missouri Expungement Law: What You Need To Know

As of January 1, 2018, the state of Missouri has greatly expanded a person’s ability to expunge (meaning to erase or remove completely) both felony and misdemeanor convictions from their criminal record.

The procedure to have these convictions removed is outlined in Section 610.140, RSMo. (Revised Statutes of Missouri). Specifically, any felony or misdemeanor is subject to expungement unless specifically listed for exclusion by the statute or the person is disqualified for other reasons.

In many instances, the entire process can be completed in as little as 120 days and result in the person having most, if not all, of their criminal record removed thereby hiding it forever from employers, landlords and financial institutions among others. The process is quick, affordable and extremely beneficial for those who qualify.
